Getting around

The final connection defines the journey.

In the Maldives, arrival is rarely one movement. Start with the airport, then understand the sea, air or road connection to the actual island.

01

International arrival

Most visitors arrive at Velana International Airport. Gan, Hanimaadhoo and Maafaru also serve international or charter movements subject to current schedules.

Check live airport and airline information.
02

Speedboat

Common for central atolls and scheduled local-island routes. Sea conditions, daylight, property arrangements and timetables affect journey time.

Transfer time may change.

03

Seaplane

Used for many resort transfers beyond the central speedboat zone. Operations are generally daylight-dependent and coordinated with international arrivals.

Baggage rules and waits vary.
04

Domestic flight

Regional airports shorten long north–south journeys, usually followed by road or speedboat. The final connection matters as much as the flight.

Confirm the complete itinerary.
05

Public ferry / RTL

Public and Raajje Transport Link services connect selected island communities. Schedules are route-specific and can change.

Use the current official schedule.

Check before departure

Use live, official information.

Schedules, transfer times, weather and operational arrangements may change. A planning estimate is never a confirmed connection.
