Sources & methods
Know what the guide knows—and what it does not.
Every important category has an authority, a review date and a limitation. Planning bands are never presented as live quotes.
01Normalised map scale
Matched islands use simplified official coastline geometry. Display size and position are normalised for legibility, so the maps orient the reader but are not for navigation or measurement. Unmatched records use a representative Maldives silhouette.
02Indicative planning
Star labels are secondary catalogue cross-checks—not official government ratings, rankings or endorsements. Price bands and transfer times are editorial planning references. All may change and require direct confirmation with the property.
03Contact restraint
Public resort and guesthouse phone numbers, non-personal emails and explicitly listed websites from the operational registers are published for direct enquiries. Fax numbers, street addresses, named staff contacts, management, operators and owner/lessee details remain private. Registration dates may remain as source metadata but are never used to rank or recommend guesthouses. Missing details are not invented.
04Clear exclusions
Maldives.is does not handle bookings or payments. Generated moonlit resort, village and underwater section backgrounds are decorative illustrations, not photographs of named places. When a verified resort photograph is unavailable, a clearly labelled representative Maldives reef image is used and is never presented as a photograph of that property. Homestays, unverified amenities and live vessel positions are outside this guide.
05Dive-site restraint
Dive markers identify approximate atoll regions, not entry points, moorings or navigation coordinates. Currents, depth, visibility, wildlife, access and required certification can change. A qualified local operator’s current assessment always takes priority.
